Spotlight On: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Kidani Villas

Where can you go where you can wake up to an African savanna full of animals?  Africa?  Well, you could, but what about somewhere a little closer to home?  Maybe just a short bus ride away from four amazing Disney theme parks?  Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge of course!

Animal Kingdom Lodge

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is an amazingly beautiful resort that transports you to Africa.  From the views and accommodations to the food, ambiance and Cast Members that make this place so special.  From the moment you step into the beautiful lobby with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking the savanna, you know you are in a place like no other.  Animal Kingdom Lodge is made up of two buildings: Jambo House and Kidani Village.  While Jambo House is considered the "Main Lodge", our focus today is on its sister building, Kidani Village.  The number one reason to stay here, at Animal Kingdom Lodge, is the Savanna View rooms.  Outside of Africa, where else can you get that kind of amazing view, watching giraffe and zebra, among others, roam outside your window? Kidani Village has more Savanna View rooms than any other view option available. However, what Kidani Village is perfect for, is larger family gatherings.  Here you can select from a variety of accommodations ranging from Deluxe Studios that sleep up to 4, to 1 or 2-bedroom villas, or choose a 3-bedroom Grand Villa that can sleep up to 12!  All of these villa style accommodations offer a kitchenette in the studios, and full kitchens in the larger 1, 2, and 3-bedroom villas, just perfect for a family that wants to eat some meals back in their room. The 1-3 Bedroom Villas also offer in-room laundry facilities and boast 2 or more bathrooms per villa, which is highly necessary when staying with larger groups.

There are feature pools at both of the two buildings, and they each offer a water slide, zero entry, and splash areas for kids.  My personal favorite is the Samawati Springs Pool at Kidani Village.  It tends to be a little less busy than the one at Jambo House.  However, Jambo House’s pool is the largest resort pool on Walt Disney World Resort property, and you can watch the animals from that pool as well. No matter which building you are in, you can visit either pool option.

If you’re looking for some amazing dining, look no further than Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.  It has some of the best restaurants on Disney property and is a solid culinary experience whether you are enjoying signature dining at Jiko, buffet-style dining at Boma, food with a view at Sana’a, or quick service at The Mara.  You’ll find something for everyone here.  From the most adventurous eater to the pickiest, there are options for everyone at this resort.

I’d recommend Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge for anyone wanting a unique resort experience, whether you are visiting the parks or not.  If you decide to stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, be sure to leave time in your itinerary to enjoy all that this gorgeous resort has to offer.
